Autism and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a brain condition effecting behaviour and social interaction, often characterised by obsessive and repetitive behaviour and an inability to undertsand, relate to and interact with the world, peers and surroundings.
Autism is still little understood and there is no known cure.
Autism has seemingly infinite degrees of intensity, and can be diagnosed from early childhood. More recently it has been recognised in many adults, who previously were undiagnosed when Autism and ASD awareness did not exist or was in it's infancy.
As awareness of ASD and Autism increases, so does our ability to accept people with Autism in our everyday lives. Many successful individuals have autism, and indeed many famous scientists and inventors from the past had autism. It was often attributed to thier exceptional abilities.
